I did a little research, and it's hard to tell if France was trying to protect it's nuclear test, or if they were totally out of line due to the Rainbow Warrior's history of ramming other ships? Regardless, the France Government signed off on the action that resulted in the deaths.
ANYWAY - I would have to say that Mr. Carlson's statement is a bit off board. This particular event, no matter the original intent, shouldn't be held up as a positive. Because it wasn't.
AND - not a lot of Republicans tend to be pro-France anyway.
