random thoughts on angel s.5
Got my Angel Season 5 DVDs last week (which is why I was absent for a whole seven days here). So now, a few thoughts:
1. Amy Acker - brilliant actress. I was devastated by Fred's death. But Amy's acting as Ilyria, a very different character, was a real eye-opener as to her acting abilities.
2. I think I'll be echoing many an Angel fan's cries when I say, Alexis Denisof needs to be in more acting roles. The guy can go from comedy to high drama in a split-second.
3. At first I wasn't sure about Spike's introduction into Angel. The first few eps, the energy felt a bit weird, but I think he slotted in fairly well in the end. And he has to be one of the few characters who can really bring out Angel's childishness. Which I enjoy seeing a great deal. (The Girl in Question - silly, but fun!)
4. Harmony! I love that even when she's trying to be good, she just can't help being evil. Mercedes really knows how to bring the ditz. She also has one of my favourite lines in the whole series: "The extra ingredient is otter." It's all in the delivery. :)
5. Spangel! It's canon!
6. Favourite episodes - Harm's Way, Damage, You're Welcome, A Hole in the World, The Girl in Question, Not Fade Away.
7. Poor Wes, guy just couldn't get a break.
8. Eve - I think I liked her. Even though she was an immortal, in the end she was just a silly girl playing a game she couldn't win.
9. Lindsey's death - awesome! He really was completely obsessed with Angel, right to the end. And it was a heartbreaking scene for Lorne. :(
10. Marcus Hamilton - it's Adam Baldwin. What's not to love?
11. I loved seeing Connor as a well-adjusted kid. He deserved it. I think I'm one of the few people who didn't hate Connor in Season Four, I just felt complete pity. The poor kid kept getting fucked over again and again by everyone he thought he could trust. That would make anyone go crazy.
There's more I could probably think of, but that's enough for now. Expect a flood of Angel icons, that should show what I loved most.
